Frequently Asked Questions
How is InFirst Different from a Bank?
InFirst is everything that you want and expect from a bank, only better because we are NOT a bank. Banks are for-profit institutions that use higher interest rates and fees to earn money for their shareholders. InFirst is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative. We don’t have shareholders - we have members (that’s you!) who earn higher dividends and pay fewer fees because of this structure. We have all of the products and services that you want and need, including a state-of-the-art digital banking platform, remote deposit, Checking Accounts, Savings Accounts, Loans, and more - just, well, better.
Am I Eligible for Membership?
Yes! Whether you are a resident of one of the many communities we serve across Virginia, an employee of a Select Employer Group, a family member of a current InFirst member, or a supporter of the InFirst Responders Foundation, you are eligible for membership. You can learn more about that here.
InFirst FCU subscribes to the belief that once a member, ALWAYS a member. It’s easy to maintain your credit union account - all it takes is a $5 minimum balance to open your Savings account. Once your account has been established, you are eligible to apply for loans or take advantage of other credit union services. Ready to join? Click here to get started.
How do I Know my Money is Safe at InFirst?
